How many miles? At that year i bet there alot of miles 90k+. If so sputtering or bogging at a stop light could be many things. And slow getting into gear? Do you mean its slow from park to gear or shifting like 1-2 or 2-3 ect.. Its deffinately time for a trans fluid flush with a new filter and gasket if you already havent done so already- that will help clean out the solenoids and help delayed shifting - normally runs about 180 at the dealership. VW's use Special atf that places like jiffy lube or quickie oil change places dont use.
