How do you remove the intake silencer? could it have prolonged damage to intake? Will sensors and electronics be alright? Is it a usefull upgrade?

I did it. As for negative effects its no different from putting an intake on your car. More air in the intake better = gas milage.
After I took mine out I had to do my Drive Clean test, it did better then the first time I went.
It is legal because the pipe is only there to reduce the intake noise for the drivers comfort. However even with it out there is no real difference.
To get at the pipe take out your air box. Under it there should be a U shaped pipe, take it out. Put the rest back and enjoy the new found power.

I just pulled the silencer box from my 93 1.9L. And I put a cut window screen in the ~3" diameter bottom hole (below the air filter) for extra leaf protection.
1. Doesn't really seem louder
2. Seems a little more peppy (another hp or 2?)
3. Gas mileage - dunno with just one tank thru it but it was about the same.
