InjectorsClown 32 12-08-2004, 04:32 PM Ok, The dealer wants $548.02 to replace the #4 injector in a 96 Lumina. I think I can change it myself but I need some advice or tips on what not to do and what to do. (Do I need to replace the regulator also?) Thanks Kirk dwalmop 12-08-2004, 05:02 PM you shouldn't have to replace the regulator and changing injectors is not a very difficult job. My advice would be to replace all 6 however, because you'll have to repeat the process soon if you don't. Make sure you relieve the fuel pressure and also make sure you blow all the debris away from the intake manifold so nothing falls in there when you pull out the old injectors. When re-installing, put oil on a q-tip and grease up the o-rings - it will make it really easy to put injectors back into the intake manifold. Also - if you decide to only replace one, make sure you buy enough o-rings for all the injectors, since they all have to be removed to replace just one. logankelly 12-08-2004, 05:33 PM I agree but I used vasaline jelly works great Clown 32 12-09-2004, 12:17 PM I heard thru the grape vine that you have to pull the intake manifold out to get the injectors out. Is this true? $71.88 price for one injector (Advanced Auto Parts) cadgear 12-09-2004, 03:37 PM Just the upper intake plenum, which requires a cheap gasket set (2 gaskets). Just be careful prying up on the fuel rail, because its just fancy aluminum tube. Don't forget to relieve pressure on the system first, unless you enjoy smelling like petrol all day.. kcg795 12-10-2004, 04:38 AM Take your injectors out, take them to Napa and have them rebuild them for $12 each, then stick them back in. GdWrnch2001 12-21-2004, 04:09 PM I just went through this with my Lumina. If you pull the fuel rail at least check the Ohms on each injector. The reading should be AT LEAST12.2 oHms. If any of them are lower change them or you wiil be pulling the plenium AGAIN. I replaced all 6 the garage wanted $1500 to do it and I did all 6 for $675 thats with all gaskets. It took about 3 hrs Good luck logankelly 12-22-2004, 02:34 PM napa will overhaul them be good as new . Do NOT pry on fuel rail pry on base of injectors a little at a time using all of them. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
