i asked this in the 96-00 civic forum, but i wasnt getting any answers. i looked around to, and didnt have much luck. so does anyone know the steering ratio for the 92-00 civic? if the integra, or the type r has a quicker steering rack, could i swap that into the civic? without any welding or drilling of course.

I forgot to reply back in that other thread. Sorry. I do not remember the exact numbers for the steering racks, I had them written down but I lost it. I can tell you this though.... the order goes like this from slowest to fastest

I broke m steering rack at an autox this year so I had to dig into this stuff. I swapped my old power steering rack out for the power steering rack from a teg. It feels MUCH better and noticeably more direct. It is a bolt on swap and don't let anyone tell you different. I did it myself so I know it for a fact. The front subframe on a 92-95 Civic is identical to a 94-01 Integra. The only difference is what is bolted to it. The Integra has an extra brace on its subframe that only fits with the Integra steering rack. If you swap the Integra steering rack onto your Civic you can swap the brace over with it for some added stiffness. The bolt holes are already there and waiting for the brace in the Civic subframe. When you do this swap you will also need the little steering joint that connects the steering column to the actual rack. I bought a new one but you can probably get away with using the one from whatever Integra you steal the rack from.

This is my stock Civic subframe after I cleaned it up. The bar that you see in front of the subframe is the brace that I am talking about from the Integra.

At the top of this picture is the new steering joint I bought. Both the Civic and the Integra steering joints look very similar, the only difference is the Integra one has a bigger shaft on the steering rack. The tie rod ends at the bottom are my old ones that I rebuilt and put new boots on. Don't worry about the things in the middle, they are just little spacers that go on the subframe that I took a picture of after I cleaned them up.

This is the Civic subframe assembled with the Integra steering rack and subframe brace. It is all ready to be reinstalled into the car.
