what lift kits would you guys suggestmountaindew 12-07-2004, 07:07 PM Hey, I was wondering how much of a lift I can get without having to get longer drivelines and different control arms or whatever. Basically I want the most lift for the least amount of work and money. Also, what brands would you suggest too? Thanks. mountaindew 12-07-2004, 07:09 PM Oh yeah, its a '92 with a 4.0 and 5 spd. and 4 wheel drive JeEpBoY95 12-07-2004, 10:10 PM i dont know for sure but after 2 inches my driveline, trackbar, and control arms needed to be replaced to achive full extention mikes3384 12-08-2004, 10:19 AM a cheap and easy lift is a rough country 3 in, you don't have to replace the control arms, or drop the t-case, all you do is replace the front coil springs, and in the rear you put an add-a-leaf, and extend the rear brake lines, and your done Finn74 12-08-2004, 04:37 PM Hey check out www.pirate4x4.com for any off road related questions. Great forum! andrew2514 12-10-2004, 07:34 PM I've got a 93 cherokee with a 3" lift and 31x10.50 and it runs good and does good offroad, I'll e-mail pictures if you want to see what it looks like Bgbdbn 12-12-2004, 04:14 AM Rubicon Express they make awesome lift kits. And you are not going to lift any vehicle without work, so get out the wrenches and get dirty. glennco1 12-12-2004, 11:36 AM Look at the Old Man Emu suspension system. The only design the system to accomodate a safe amount of lift without replacing drivetrain components. I'm pretty sure the cherokee lift doesn't give you much more than 2 inches, but I'm not sure mountaindew 12-13-2004, 11:54 AM I've got a 93 cherokee with a 3" lift and 31x10.50 and it runs good and does good offroad, I'll e-mail pictures if you want to see what it looks like Sure, that would be cool. Did you get new springs with a lift kit on top of that? ejerry96 12-15-2004, 09:34 PM I put on a Skyjacker 3" lift. It actually lifted it 4. Kit included everything. Even new leaf springs. I would stay away from blocks or add a leaf's (not as dependable). I didn't have to lengthen my break lines although its a good idea. Also I did have to lengthen the driveshaft, and had to change the shims twice to get it just right. It took a full weekend. All hand tools and no lift. I think Skyjacker makes the best lifts for any style Jeep. Also they make a coil spring conversion kit for the rear now. andrew2514 12-15-2004, 10:32 PM Yeah, i have a skyjacker 3" it came with all the springs front and back the arms and shocks, yeah compared to the stock suspension it surprisingly has a lot of travel too. My jeep also has the 5 speed 4.0 and i run 31x10.50's and it rides smooth and didn't feel like it lost any power. If you want pictures I could send them but i think i would need your e-mail unless you know another way. jeeptime99 03-29-2005, 10:03 PM I have a 3" Skyjacker on my '99 XJ. I've had no problems with it and would certainly recomend the lift to anyone. thinmints 03-30-2005, 02:48 AM rocky road outfitters has a nice 2 and 3 inch lift kit for around $150 i have the 2 inch and it is great.... easy to install its about a half day job depending on the amount of help you have, just be sure to use lots of pb blaster jwtrapper 03-30-2005, 10:15 AM Look at the Old Man Emu suspension system. Or you could go to the junk yard and get yourself a set of springs off of a Grand Cherokee w/v8 and put thoes springs in with an Add a Leaf in the rear. Lots of different ways to do this. You can also check out http://www.naxja.org/forum/index.php? If you go to pirate4x4.com dont ask this question there. You will not like the answers that you get. That is more of a hardcore 4x4 site. If you dont have dana 60's at least 35's and a V8 dont bother going there. Just thought that I would give you a heads up. dmxjg35 03-30-2005, 11:49 AM Get yourself a set of used dakota rear springs, use everything but the main leaf, use the cherokee main leaf. add that to some carquest zj coils with a spacer upfront and that should net you between 3-4 in for fairly cheap id bet under 200 bucks, you would also need at least a t/c drop brack but you can make one real easy. Check out www.jeepsunlimited.com or www.jeepforums.com they are good for smaller lift cherokee question misfitXJ_97 03-31-2005, 08:17 PM you could go with a fabtech kit its pretty reasonable and about four inches, although you might need to drop the t-case. To avoid doin that stick with anything 3"s and under. scuba4321 04-04-2005, 07:54 PM I just installed (today) the Daystar 2" kit, coil spacer and greasable shackle, took about 3hrs. Start using penetrating oil days in advance!! I replaced stock tires w/ Procomp 31's, Awsome! took it up some very steap hills to make sure nothing was going to fall off. This was just what I was looking for.The kit was 82.00 plus shipping from 4x4warehouse. tech_ed 04-06-2005, 03:48 PM Here is what I did to both my Cherokees (89 LTD and 90 Sport) Go to Rustys https://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=rustys&Category_Code=S and got the budget lift. It comes with a front coil spacer and longer shackles in the rear. Cost $100 and gives me almost 2 inches of lift. Then to get more lift (and for towing) I went to a local industrial truck service center and had the rear leafs re-curved and an extra leaf added. Now I run 30 X 9.5 BFGs on both rigs and can enjoy some offroading. Ed web/gadget guru vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
