My cruise control crapped out on my 2001 V6 (113,000 miles). Seems that the cable is run to a pulley system in the electric cruise control unit. This "mating" of cable to pulley is done with a cheap strip of ribbon. The ribbon is not much stronger then a ribbon used to wrap a gift. This ribbon came off the pulley and rendered the cruise control useless. The cruise control unit is sealed even though it has 4 torx screws . I expect this will cost a bit to replace even though the procedure is real simple.

Anyone experience the same issue? Any rumor of recalls?

We have an '02 but only 30K on it so if the fix is as simple as you say, find a local bone yard and get the unit. It will save a lot f money if thats the case.
