Everyone has their different brand preferences/alliances. So this is why I suggest going with this format and then polling on which brands to go with Head unit: take your pick front stage: medium - high end components rear stage: medium -high end two or three ways subs: two 10's running off of their own sub amp *and some dynamat or other type of sound insulation *the front and rear stage of course being amp powered I think this will give us the sound that we want, with some money left over for anything else we need 92 Teg-B18A 03-01-2002, 02:43 AM I know, I know ICE is the thing to have right now but so were altezzas and they got played out fast (sorry to those who like or have em). Everybody's getting ICE and shorting themselves on sound quality. Ditch the ICE and go for a quality thumping system! sparq 03-01-2002, 02:53 AM Originally posted by 92 Teg-B18A I know, I know ICE is the thing to have right now but so were altezzas and they got played out fast (sorry to those who like or have em). Let's try this, let's all agree on each piece. Let's agree on the headunit first, then the speakers, amps next, etc. Let's try that instead of everyone putting up a different combo of components, K? ric 03-01-2002, 10:27 AM 4 rockford 15's igo4bmx 03-01-2002, 11:28 AM How about alpine IVA-800 in dash 6.4 lcd monitor? built in cd player 3 RCA outs at 4 volts each. nice sq and good menu interface (i've seen crappy in dash interfaces which make it look like poo) and you can get them for about 1000 bucks. Si2000 Vtec 03-01-2002, 01:25 PM Man, I haven't followed car audio stuff for a long time! Once upon a time, I knew it all... then I got a car =) Well, from what I remember, Clarion and Sony were the only two manufacturers with a 20-Bit Bur-Brown D/A converter [head unit] for the best sound quality... I basically hate Sony's audio equipment so I'd go with the Clarion. As for speakers, I'm very partial to Polk... I've spent about $1500 on polk speakers in my life [home and car], and from what i've compared them to, nothing beats them for the price. So i'd probably go with some Momo 6.5" seperates up front. And if you ask many IASCA judges, they'll tell you that you don't need rear-fill, as it can throw off your sound stage [phaze differences/sound altitude]. I didn't have rear speakers in my Hatch, it sounded really nice. Now for some bumps, I haven't heard anything clearer than the good ole' alumapro alchemy's. I'd throw a nice single 12" [again, not altering phaze differences] and fiberglass it in the spare-tire well. As for power, xtant has my vote... I think a nice 604a should do the job [I think thats the model]. Hell, I don't blame you if you don't take my word for it, but I'm friends with a few IASCA judges, so I had the inside edge on what's hot for sound quality... but like I said, I'm totally out of the car audio scene now... this info is all like 2 years old =) Si2000 Vtec 03-01-2002, 01:26 PM BTW>> www.carmedia1.com has some really good prices... I haven't been to the site in a long time, but they have hella good prices. 94civic 03-01-2002, 01:34 PM here is my list 2 12" brahma series subs $740 (doesn't need a big box and runs at 1600watts rms, 4800 peak-massive subs) only .65-1.25 cubic feet box needed. His lease ran out on his civic so i got all his custom work for a fraction of the price. Of course i know we aren't going to get a system like that for what i paid, but i can tell you what i learned. Note this system i have has won a couple of comps. for clarity (only hits aobu 135db though). I'm running 6.5" Focal Polyglass components in the front with custom pods pointing the 6.5"s almost at my dome light. I have an orion 800x4 xtreme amp powering them (front channels sending less than 130 watts to them each because at half volume my ears almost explode. In the trunk i've got 2x 12" eclipse subs with custom sealed boxes. my trunk kit is a flush mount show kit, so i'm not suggesting do stick with that, however i would suggest getting a couple of custom sealed boxes and putting 2 JL12w6 in there. I pick JLs over audiobahn or eclipse because eclipse cost a crapload and Audiobahn like to eat huge wattage from the amp. that 4 channel 800 watt RMS amp from orion is powering my settup more than enough. I do not have an upgraded alternator or a cap for my system, and i don't have any light dimming problems. I run my system hard and loud; a 1 farad cap isn't going to make a dent in the demand of power that our system is going to put out. It is proven that caps don't make a darn bit of diff and are only there for show. If you disagree i'll try to find the post where it explains why caps are pointless. For head unit, Alpine has my attention the most right now with eclipse and pioneer right behind them. I have also heard great stuff about clarion (i think) from spraq, our local car audio distributor. I'd go with his suggestions for head unit personally. If we are going to be show worthy we do want to have a custom trunk setup to some degree. I could post mine if i could get some webspace to do so or we could just discuss ideas. whatever the case, high quality components up front (i suggest MB quart, Infinity, or Focal) with no back deck speakers. 2x 12" subs with sealed boxes and a 4ch amp that can hold 1 ohm stable. I've seen it work :) auke1 03-03-2002, 11:41 AM I want a stereo just as much as everyone else  but I do not believe that we have anything for the engine; no exhaust, port and polish, cam gears, rods, retainers, valve springs, fuel rail, fuel pump, etc....we have not mentioned any of these parts. Seeing as we only have 2333 or so left, i thought that this question would be of importance. I would suggest looking at getting internals; unless you all think that we can run a boosted CRVtec on stock CRV internals and we can squeeze all of its power out of the tiny little stock exhaust that we currently have:D :finger: Gusto222 03-04-2002, 11:53 AM okay-- hes not askin what U have-- but what he can get for tha $$ he has listed.. so heres an idea-- either do like some of tha other heeds have dont & post brands/models/prices-- or-- just stop being a post whore auke1 03-05-2002, 09:10 PM and nobody responds to my question...:bloated: clatescivicr 03-05-2002, 10:43 PM If you guys only knew how good this setup is. MMmmmm t0p_sh0tta 03-05-2002, 11:02 PM Two Adire Audio Temptests(15'') or Shivas(12'')and, a jbl 1200.1 for the subs. Some dei comps would be nice, with about 200 watts per side... and a 300-400 Headunit from alpine, eclipse, or clarion. onesojourner 03-05-2002, 11:07 PM http://www.audiomyth.com/AMStores/ShowListItems_InBrandName_Product.cfm?Manufacturer =Pioneer&ItemType=MP3%20Players&StoreID=1&CountryID=212 pioneer mp3 player with grafics 269 & 279 this is what i just bought but its not in yet but it is tight auke1 03-06-2002, 01:21 AM Originally posted by auke1 I want a stereo just as much as everyone else  but I do not believe that we have anything for the engine; no exhaust, port and polish, cam gears, rods, retainers, valve springs, fuel rail, fuel pump, etc....we have not mentioned any of these parts. Ok I gotta get pissed for a few things... #1 ~ its GERMANY and not ITALY #2 ~ Its not just SQ, drop 350 watts to each of the woofers and you have a low 140dB system capable of delivering pin pointed accurate bass! #3 ~ its GERMANY and not ITALY... Shit I didnt even think to have Rene check out their facility while hes over there, shit maybe I can PM him and hell get it!!! :finger: CivicRacerX 03-12-2002, 03:51 PM Since the trend seems to be a list of what each person recommends, let me just say that before my car got ripped off, I had a JVC SH-99 head, with Infinity Kappa components and Kappa 3-ways in the rear. I also had 2 Audiobahn 10s in a bandpass with a kicker ZR240 amp. The audiobahns I could do without, they weren't that great, but were ok for the price. The JVC and the Infinity setup was definitely one of my favorites of all time. This thread seems to have been dead for several days? What's the status? clatescivicr 03-12-2002, 04:24 PM Sorry thought it was Italy, and where did you get that nice quote ;) hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Originally posted by sparq Ok I gotta get pissed for a few things... #1 ~ its GERMANY and not ITALY #2 ~ Its not just SQ, drop 350 watts to each of the woofers and you have a low 140dB system capable of delivering pin pointed accurate bass! #3 ~ its GERMANY and not ITALY... I went on a little international trip, I was busy, I'm workin on it. igo4bmx 03-12-2002, 05:57 PM i vote for mine hahaha since the car is meant for all out purposes and a nice 6.4 lcd monitor will do the trick. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
