2.0 liter compression on a a20 89 lxi engineaccordturkey 11-30-2004, 11:35 AM I have a 89 honda accord lx-i and I think the compression ratio is 9:1. How much psi could I push if I port and polished my engine. Also what kind of engine would be easy to swap into my car. veedubxlr8r 01-24-2005, 01:12 PM well, if you want some good info on 3rd gen accords, goto 3geez (www.3geez.com) there aren't too many swaps for that car, my buddy and i put a 2nd get prelude si engine ( a20a5 / bt ) in his 87 accord hatch, but that's basically the same engine you have ( a20a3 if it's fuel injected, a20a1 if it's carbed) i guess it might be possible to bolt an F22 engine in ( F23A4Racer750IL http://www.automotiveforums.com/t321670.html) i know on preludepower.com there are a few second gen preludes (A20 engines) with b16 engine swaps, and one or two with b18a1 integra engines h23sedan 01-29-2005, 01:10 PM proly the best and easiest would be a b-series from what ive seen. forgot where i saw it, but there was a 89 accord with a 0bd1 b18c swapped in. anything in the F and H series will be a little harder to fit in, somewhat like putting one in an integra or a civic. veedubxlr8r 02-04-2005, 05:42 AM at this point, h and f series swaps are not realistically possible, they'd require totally custom mounts and custom axles, and some other things i guess a D series engine could be swapped in, making note of the proper OBD wiring, so an older crx/civic engine should plug right in the A20A3 / A20A5 engines have around 110 hp, and the D series engines can put out 125-7 or so from the factory, so it'd be a decent swap to get a little more power and gain a few mpg by decreasing engine size from a 2.0 (1955cc) to a 1.6 L. not sure where you get the mounts, i guess place racing (of placeracing.com) has gone out of business, so i'm not sure if any mounts for this type of swap are even available vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
