Hi All,

I own a 1993 Villager. My heater core just broke. The bad news is that the heater core specifically for the Villager/Quest is discontinued as per the Ford & Nissan dealers I inquired at.

Napa Auto, AC Delco and every other parts supplier do not carry the front heater core. They just carry the rear heater core which is approx. $85.

You can't even modify an aftermarket core to work due to the inlet port having a built in valve which opens and closes to control coolant flow.
Also the inlet and out ports are plastic. Therefore, welding the ports to a new aftermarket unit is not an option. Although, you can install an aftermarket heater core of the same dimensions you will not have any temperature control because of the lack of the control valve.

I have sent my heater core to be repaired at a radiator repair shop. Hopefully this repair will hold. I just wish the core was brand new.

The good news is that the repair will only cost me $40 (Cnd $'s). Better than paying over $150 plus taxes if the front unit was available over the counter.

Anyways, I'll let you know the final result when I re-install the heater core.

That's all for now.

Sounds bad but why just not buy one from a junk yard?

Yes. The only problem for him was that he was in canada not the states.
