i am planning on spraying a 75 shot when i get my tranny fixed but the guy who chiped my ecu may have advanced my timing. i dont trust him anymore i heard he jacked up someones prelude but mine runs fine so i dont want to go back. is it possible to retard my timming enough with my cam gears to spray even though the timming on the ecu is advanced. whats the best way to go about spraying or the safest way i should say. open to all suggestions thanx

Well from the other thred I know what you drive now.

I would go talk to the guy and see exactly what he did when he chipped your ecu like what kind of timing he threw in and fuel and what not. if he advanced the timing get it unchipped.

To be safe you can go with a wet kit with upgraded fuel components or even a dry kit with upgraded fuel components colder plugs and always run 93 octane when spraying.

Since your new to nitrous I would recommend a zex wet or dry kit they are simple to hook up and safe. Im sure NX and NOS have safe systems too.

wet kit, colder plugs, pull 2 degrees of timing, 35 shot tune, tune, tune, 50 shot, tune, tune, tune. 75 shot. HOLD ON. a well tuned 50 shot will KILL an untuned 75 shot!

you need cold plugs some fuel upgrades, i recomend a fuel pressure reg. fule rail things like that. make sure you arent to lean cuz u will melt something. getting ur fuel right is the key

Did the guy you took your car to put it on a dyno? Did he use a wide band O2 on it? If not then I would just remove it completely.

the guy just did a few minor adjustments but i know the timing was advanced. any way i got NOS wet kit and i going to spray a 75 shot. i have a fpr and im going to get a bigger fuel pump. were do you guys think i should set my cam gears or should it be tuned on the dyno only

Hit the dyno....

Dyno and wideband is the only way I would go seeing as how the ecu has been chipped. But honestly I would remove the chip, if he did not make the adjustments while it was on a dyno and hooked to a wideband then he was taking "stabs in the dark". That is just a terrible way to tune a car and it will almost always result in a slower car that has poor fuel economy compared to before the tune.

pull your plugs during a run, meaning while your spraying and driving wot, shut the car off, push the clutch in and put the tranny is neutral. then pull hte plugs and look at them under a magnifying glass, if you see specks of metal then your detonating and should pull more timing.
