Fuel pump relay is right up under the hood. Could be several things besides the pump. Checking for a good ground of the relay is important. I had same problem on my 89 5.7L. There was a ground located on the passenger side fenderwell. Several things were grounded there and it had worked loose. Also, there should be and oil pressure switch that will stop spark and fuel if not enough oil pressure is present. But since you say you have spark I don't think that's an issue.
