hey wuz up peoples. i have a h22 in an 90 accord. i recently put on 17" rims and a stage 3 clutch. now when i launch my car tire hops more than any thing i ve ever seen before. i went to the track and ran a 15.5 due to bad tranny. but i had enough tire hop to break by glove box. how do make it go away. thanx

Some stickier tires would help as well.

Take care of it fast, wheel hop can break more than just your glove box. Wheel hop also likes to shatter CV joints.

it's all about suspension.. traction bars, stiffer springs, and a bit of lowering will help you out a lot..

to stop ur wheel hop, try not letting ur tires spin so much, i have a h22a in my prelude with a 4 puck clutch, i can launch from like 2k rpms and smoke the shyt out of my tires...work on ur launch...it'll save u some money, but if money isn't one of ur problems....everyone's else's ideas sound good

Haha most of the honda's around here are running 10-14 second 1/4 mile times. It is not hard at all to get a honda into the 14's ;)

Your advice is good :bigthumb:
Even with the suspension upgrades you will still need to work on the launch, unless you get some really sticky tires you are going to need to launch at a lower rpm. The H22A has enough TQ to get you out of the hole quickly without having to launch at a high rpm.

whtteg is right, most are running under 15's. Prelude's come stock running high 14's. Keep in mind your brother's Mustang GT is one heavy ass car. Look into the power to weight ratio. Drop an H22A into almost any honda and it's easily running 14's, because a civic is a lot lighter than a prelude.

who ever that was telling me to work on my launch. thanks but im positive thats not the prob. i ve had the swap for a year and i ve only lost to gsr in a hatch. i walk all over b16s and a couple other h22s. the prob started resently. i ve been draging for about 4 years now i now how to drive. im pretty sure its worn engine mounts and my engine is rocking a little to much i just wanted to get other opinions on it. i also launch at 2k when im on stocks. thanks for all the advice i just get a little offended when people think impose that i cant drive. no disrespect

Just wait for the new setup...12's are callin my name!

14's arent that impressive its ok but not fast enough for me. it'll do 13's now but high 13's at best. There are tons of other "4 bangers" out there that run hell of alot faster than 14.3

well it's just like they teach you in Drivers Ed never try and estimate another drivers skill, trust your own... so basically we all think you drive like sh*t without seeing it on our own, no offense. but that's just the way it works. another suggestion I have for you when you get new engine mounts if that does'nt solve it, go and look into getting a torque damper ( http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/ingalls_engineering_stiffy.htm ) dunno where you'd mount it, but I'm sure there is a way. (this is only if it is the engine torquing like you say) but I would definitly look into getting a new suspension setup first.. I think that's the bigger part of your problem.

thats fair i guess i would assume the same about you. but anyways fedex lost my package so when ever they find it and i get my mounts installed. if that dont work i ll give your idea a shot. thanks
