can I put a 88-91 B16A1 in my 89 lxi clean w/o a new ECU and Tranny. I am looking to do a swap with my lx-i and need Ideas on an engine that would be easy to swap. Im looking at a 88-91 B16A1, 94-95 F22B1, and also a 88-91 B20A5. Please Help labor is not a problem time and money are any advice would be welcomed.

Im assuming you mean accord lx-i, and the stock ecu will run the B16 but you wont have vtec and the B16's ECU will probably make more power since all the maps are suited for a revving 1.6 and not a low power, low revving 2.1 liter. what engine is in the 89 accord though, I cant remember if it was that gen or the ones before but isnt it like an A21 or something like that not sure how hard the B or F seruies would be to swap in but if you have an A series in there then no the tranny wont work, you have to keep the families to themselves, Ive heard one exception on trannies so far. and thats that the H/F series trannies interchange. never seen proof but a few people on here have said it, so must be right.
