91 accord...spark, no fuel?homegr0wn 11-28-2004, 07:16 PM My accord is experiencing some heavy shuddering. One by one, I took the wires off the plugs and they all caused the car to spudder more except for one. Changed plug, no effect. Should I look into the egr, or??? I'm at a loss. Either there is no gas getting in or something else is effecting that cylinder to make it not combust. Thanks in advance. AccordCodger 11-28-2004, 10:12 PM Most likely the plug wire(s). Replace the set, especially if you don't know their age or type. Get genuine Honda wires. SenseiAccord 11-29-2004, 01:23 AM how old is ur car and how much miles do u have on it? homegr0wn 11-29-2004, 01:21 PM I replaced plugs, wires and dist. The car has 180,000, so it is getting old. I have narrowed it down to that one cylinder not firing. There is definently spark going into the cylinder. Could a plugged egr cause this type of non-firing in a cylinder? I figure it must be 1) injector 2) egr 3) head gasket? Never had any problems with overheating, etc. so I am hoping that it is the injector which will be an easy replacement, but I am not sure. Perhaps the only way to find out will be to do a diagnostics, but I don't have the 60 bucks right now. ProMan 11-29-2004, 01:34 PM If you are sure there is spark in that cylinder, the next step is to see if fuel appears too. The EGR should not contribute too much to this problem. If there is no fuel in that cylinder, then the cause could be as simple as the connector to the fuel injector is bad, or the FJ itself is bad (not very common). If you get both fuel and spark in that cylinder, do a compression test and prepare for the worst. Good luck. homegr0wn 11-29-2004, 02:07 PM I know I can use a volt meter to check the connection, but is there anyway to actually check if there is fuel flowing from the injector? I guess I could swap it with another injector and see if the problem persists, unless there is an easier way. --and do you know kind of reading I should be looking for at the connector? kneowe 01-07-2005, 10:45 AM You need to do a compression test before you buy anything. expecially if it was the 2nd cylinder thats not firing its probubly a valve. A simple vacuum leak in this model can cause the valves to burn,. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
