I think I have a problem with my shifter alignment. Yesterday, I parked, threw in into part and started to get out and realized it was in reverse. I messed with it a little and it went into Park without any problem. Later, I parked it and couldn't get it into Park at all so I parked it overnight in Neutral with the parking brake set. Went to church and came home a little after noon and now I can't get it into reverse. When I go through the gears now, the shifter goes down to low and then a gear lower than that. I think it's a problem with the shifter alignment but I really don't know how to adjust it or even if that makes sense.

You never mentioned in your post whether or not you had checked your transmission fluid level.

Yeah, I did check the transmission fluid. I even smelled it and it smelled ok....not that I know exactly what I'm smelling for;)

I agree with your shifter alignment assessment. It may have come loose at the transmission or the cable may have come loose causing the change. I don't think it is a problem with the transmission itself since everything seems to work. Take it to a tranny shop and have them look at the problem. Should only cost a few dollars to fix.
