adding RKE for a 99 blazertalonx 11-27-2004, 05:11 PM My Blazer did not have the RKE installed and I was thinking of grabbing an RKE module from the bone yard and buying a FOB online. Then use programming procedures I have read about here. Is there a specific FOB I need to buy? or will any GM one work? JackDaniels386 11-27-2004, 05:24 PM you would probably need to go to the dealer and get a specific FOB to work with your RKE model. youd probably have to get them to program it specifically for your RKE module, and you might also want to get the VIN # off of the Jimmy or blazer or s-10 or whatever car you get the module off of, because the dealers sometimes use them as references for what kind of FOB is needed for that module, and it also changes the way the program it, etc. talonx 11-27-2004, 05:33 PM My Blazer did not have the RKE installed and I was thinking of grabbing an RKE module from the bone yard and buying a FOB online. I know the dealer wants like $60+ for the FOB, so I was looking to do this low cost and get an FOB online. I have seen them pretty cheap, but I'm not sure if all GM FOBS are the same. talonx 11-27-2004, 06:27 PM I've been looking around the net, but it seems like all different year FOB's may not work. Does anyone know if all the FOB needs to be in the same range? Or would only the dealer know? BlazerLT 11-27-2004, 07:00 PM What is a RKE and a FOB? talonx 11-27-2004, 07:16 PM RKE = remote keyless entry FOB = the remote thing on your keyring BlazerLT 11-27-2004, 07:18 PM thanks vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
