I rebuilt a 2.5 in an 89 S-10 2X pickup 5 speed.
The truck is wrecked but the engine is fine.
I bought a 84 S10 4X4 with a 2.0 and a 4 speed.
Will the 2.5 bolt up to the tranny in the 84 without too much trouble.
Probably gonna try to swap the computer and all over to the 84.
Any suggestions??

I don't think that the 2wd transmission will fit in the 4x4.
I would imagine that the engin should fit, as long as they're both 2.5 L

OOPs!, No thinkin' about it, your right. Didn't catch that 4X4 thing, only saw the 2WD. The tail shaft on the tranny is wrong.

The 4x4 is a 2.0 and the 89 is a 2.5.
will the 2.5 bolt up to the 84 4 speed tranny?

Off the cuff I would say yes, but I have never had a 2.0 out and saw it. I would want to keep the 5 speed so if it were mine, I would go to a salvage yard and pick up a 5 speed that will take the tansfer case. Also, I would drop a new clutch in since you have it out.

In my area, that tranny would run $150 - $200.
