transmission compatibilty

i have a 1988 fox and the usual four-speed but id like to put in a five- or six-speed transmission do you know any other vws that have compatible transmissions with my L4 engine so that i dont spend a fortune trying to find one from that year for my car

There are Foxes out there with the 5-speed option. I don't know of anyone making a six speed that would work in the Fox.

i have seen a special edition called the wolfsberg but im not sure if they use the same enigne. do you know where to get a five-speed?

All the Wolfsburg's were 5 speed. Look at http://www.car-part.com
