Code 0446Sfrid073 11-24-2004, 08:33 PM Having EVAP problems. Getting a code 0446. Kid at AutoZone says it is comming up twice. Same code. I replaced the gas cap twice. Once with cheapy one from AutoZone, second from the dealer. Still have the SES light. Even after a few driving cycles. Then I changed the solenoid valve under the hood. Still no changes after driving cycles. I had read on here about another valve at the rear of the vehicle??? I have a 1997 Blazer 4WD. I checked the hoses and metal lines that run front to back and can't find a leak. Any help would be appreciated. davydawg 11-25-2004, 04:48 AM i have the same problem, dont know what it is,, drives fine BlazerLT 11-26-2004, 06:22 AM condensation in the system also causes this problem. Sfrid073 12-03-2004, 09:29 AM ok....pulled neg battery to clear codes. SES light stayed out for a day. The day after it came back on. Any other ideas? If it is condensation how do I get rid of it?? And is there another valve/switch I need to check???? BlazerLT 12-03-2004, 02:23 PM There is usually a solenoid that can be swapped out to repair the problem. It gets damaged by water getting into the system from not keep ing the tank full at all times. Sfrid073 12-03-2004, 06:30 PM I replaced the solinoid. That was in my first post BlazerLT 12-03-2004, 07:52 PM My apologies, sorry about that. Also, some people have a defective seal in the gas tank cap. Sfrid073 12-03-2004, 08:09 PM replaced gas cap also. it was also in my first post BlazerLT 12-03-2004, 09:38 PM Oh god, I'm not havnig a good day. Forgive me. davydawg 12-04-2004, 02:29 AM the p0446 code says Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction , were is the vent control circut, is it in that solenoid?? were is that solenid anyway, is it under the hood or by the evap can??? boomer62 12-06-2004, 06:05 PM the p0446 code says Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction , were is the vent control circut, is it in that solenoid?? were is that solenid anyway, is it under the hood or by the evap can??? MY 99 blazer had the same problem. There is a solenoid/valve behind the gas tank, but in front of the spare tire. You have to remove your spare tire to get to it(if your spare is under the truck). cost me 200.00 to diagnose an install and 35.00 for the part. Hope this helps. scholzee 12-07-2004, 01:03 PM My 2 dr 1996 the solenoid is at the front top of the gas tank just behind the rear axle it looks like this. http://catservices.wrencheadpro.com/SmartPages/partinfo/KEM/162-440.jpg davydawg 12-09-2004, 02:24 AM thanks guys i am going to pull my spare and check it out tonight :) BlazerLT 12-09-2004, 02:43 AM Let us know. scholzee 12-09-2004, 07:07 AM Forgot to mention on my other post but my 1996 could have one of two versions the other looks like this http://catservices.wrencheadpro.com/SmartPages/partinfo/KEM/162-424.jpg They may be also part of the charcoal canister, my canister is located behind the drivers rear wheel in the bottom of the quarter panel, so if you do not see it by the gas tank look for your charcoal canister. unionhill 04-10-2005, 12:25 PM My 2001 2-dr Blazer has the same error code. Is this solenoid at the other end of the air hose that goes into the canister? If so, my solenoid is in the same place as Scholzee's. Not the easiest part to get to... Thanks, -Andy BlazerLT 04-10-2005, 07:31 PM P0446 - Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Find out which on is the vent solenoid. unionhill 04-10-2005, 08:49 PM Hi BlazerLT- That's the problem... I'm not sure which one it is. My book isn't very helpful either. I guess I'll try the one that I think it is.... Thanks, -Andy BlazerLT 04-10-2005, 09:27 PM Should be a diagram on your fan shroud. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
