I am trying to determine what the latest version of sw for a E39 540i6 (08/99) is.
The local dealer indicates there is no new sw - but I get the sense they are not quite interested in checking.

Can anyone shed any light on the subject of sw for E39/540i6 (08/99)?
I am specifically looking for answers to the following questions:
- What is the latest rev for an E39 540i6?
- What are the improvements over the prior revs?
- How can one check to see what rev is installed in the car?

the only thing updated in e39 as far as i know is engine and trans software, and then only when there was a problem with the vehicle. The engine could only be done 13 times so naturally you are not doing this as service update. some of the other models could be recoded but that changes the vehicle equipment status, not the software or hardware versions.
