Basic Starter question

While this is clearly not a question any Auto Enthusiast would ask, I admit to not being one.

I recently began a physics project that required a motor. In an attempt to minimize costs on this project, I have attempted find and use any parts available to me. One such part is the Starter motor of a long since dead 1984 Chevrolet Cavalier. The problem is, more or less, finding the motor. I've attempted to search google on the matter, and have come up with very little, other than information proving that the one part I did pull out and store was, in fact, the alternator (as I thought).

One option many people have suggested was to purchase a service manual for the car, but I have not the time, nor the money, for such a purchase.

I'm sure someone could enlighten me here. :)

Are you saying you need a full out motor? Or just a little starter motor?

If its just a starter.. head to your local Auto Wrecker and pick one up for cheap cheap.
