Any suggestions on the mixture between the cheapest and the "best" way to come across a replacement? I was thinking ATS rebuilt trannies.. but their core notes are so detailed, im afraid my tranny might not meet the requirements.

Although it is not the "cheapest," your "best" option would be to get a 93 LSD tranny.

You can get them new for $1600 ... but you would need the LSD axle stubs as well.

The 93 trannies have much better syncros than the 91s.
