My 4.8L 1500 has stalled a couple of times. I was wondering if there's any way to get an error off of the computer without access to a scanner.

With my old 1996 Ram 1500, you could get codes from the computer by turning the ignition back and forth a few times and counting the number of times a particular light on the dash flashed. Sounds dumb, but it worked.

When it's stalled, there's not been any indication of anything wrong (near as I can tell). It simply cuts out.

I'm pretty sure you can take it to Autozone and they will tell you what the code is and clear it. If not, it will clear on it own. I think it's gonna take 40 engine cycles(not sure about the number). Startup, warmup, shutdown and cool off, and startup again is 1 cycle.
