00 automatic transmission cavalier wont shift above 2nd gear19camaro81 11-22-2004, 01:46 AM I've got a 2000 4-speed automatic transmission cavalier. When driving it will shift fine to 1st and then to 2nd gear but after that when I press the gas the rpm's go up but it wont shift into 3rd or 4th. So I can only go about 30 maybe 35 mph b/c the rpm's are in the up in the 3's & 4's. I'm afraid if I try pressing the gas harder with the rpm's that high it'll mess something up. Any help would be appreciated. :dunno: xxchamp34xx 11-22-2004, 07:11 AM ahhhh i had the same problem, didnt turn out too good for me , ended up getting my tranny rebuilt for 1200$ 19camaro81 11-23-2004, 04:42 AM Thank you for sending reply. The car's probably not worth much more than that so don't know if it would b worth it. But I appreciate it though. ImSoYesterday 11-23-2004, 09:57 PM if you get your tranny rebuilt you could opt for a manual, my pal did it on his neon. take it to the local transmission specialist. they threw a short shift in, and a really funky clutch pedal. but it is weird. works like a charm though. xxchamp34xx 11-24-2004, 12:04 AM i was hopeing to do that too but the guy at my tranny shop wanted to charge me another 1,000 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
