I've got a 2000 4-speed automatic transmission cavalier. When driving it will shift fine to 1st and then to 2nd gear but after that when I press the gas the rpm's go up but it wont shift into 3rd or 4th. So I can only go about 30 maybe 35 mph b/c the rpm's are in the up in the 3's & 4's. I'm afraid if I try pressing the gas harder with the rpm's that high it'll mess something up. Any help would be appreciated. :dunno:

ahhhh i had the same problem, didnt turn out too good for me , ended up getting my tranny rebuilt for 1200$

if you get your tranny rebuilt you could opt for a manual, my pal did it on his neon. take it to the local transmission specialist. they threw a short shift in, and a really funky clutch pedal. but it is weird. works like a charm though.

i was hopeing to do that too but the guy at my tranny shop wanted to charge me another 1,000
