It wouldn't hurt to replace it anyways. How many miles so far on the current filter?

is the transmission working properly???? if its working fine then just replace the filter and fill the fluid back up and call it a day.

no the transmission wouldn't shift gears. That's why I tried changing the fluid. If that doesn't work we are getting rid out the car... unless we can fix it because the transmisson is more than the car is worth. anyone have aim???

Go with the min. work for now. Just change the fluid and filter. If that doesn't work, then rebuild or replace the tranny.

what does rebuild mean? Its an auto 3 speed with od and is an 88. Replacing the tranny would be worth more than the car so thats out of the question.
I wasn't able to get my pan back on so ima have to do that next weekend or something but.. I'm sure the problem lies with that broken 3 inch orange ring that was in my filter... sigh

Is this your DD or a project car?
