intake for 95 grand am segrandam95 11-21-2004, 03:00 PM Any body know where i can buy a cold air intake for a 95 grand am se? Or has built their own, like many pics i have seen, and can give me tips on how to? Any help is appriciated. Forkliftguy 11-21-2004, 07:03 PM If you want to go really cheap you can use black ABS drain lines (plumbing pipe). Easy to cut, they make different angled elbows for them also. and all you need to buy is a cone filter for it. It ain't pretty, but if done right it's better than factory. I'm making mine out of carbon fibre next spring. To do this though you need to know how to make molds, work with composites and have access to a kiln. Plus, carbon fibre matting usually runs about 5X more expensive than it's fibreglass cousin. Igovert500 11-21-2004, 09:45 PM Check ebay FormulaLT1 11-21-2004, 10:22 PM www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com/) and www.jegs.com (http://www.jegs.com/) both sell them but you would probably find a better deal on ebay or could save alot of money if you build your own. Good Luck. GASE 95 11-22-2004, 09:51 AM they dont make them for 2.3L Quad 4's. You can make them from ABS like forkliftguy said or even PVC pipe will work. grandam95 11-22-2004, 03:11 PM I looked on ebay and found some aftermarket intakes but i dont think their cold air intakes. I guess ill just buy that setup and then go find a cool air filter.... Forkliftguy 11-22-2004, 10:13 PM The reason a "cold air" intake is called that is because instead of drawing in warm air from the engine bay (which is what happens when you install an aftermarket intake, because the exposed filter element sits in the engine bay behind the battery), the filter element is located in the inner fender well outside of the engine bay instead where it draws in cold air. In reality, almost all stock intakes found in today's cars are cold air intakes because they are plumbed to the inner fender well. There is no such thing as a cool air filter. As I explained, the name comes from where the intake air is actually drawn from. HTH Marc vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
