Does anyone know how to override the protective feature on Nissan's GPS that will not allow you to use it unless the tranny is in the park position? It is very frustrating when you need directions somewhere in the midst of driving. I guess the factory is trying to protect us from running over small children while we drive, but surely the passenger can enter data safely....

The Xterra doesn't have a GPS, can't help ya. Might try the forum specific to the Nissan vehicle you are asking about.
