And doesn’t anybody have any suggestions for programming My Shift points on my 2003 Silverado 2500HD 6L with the Hypertech Power Programmer III To get better and gas mileage?

hi i dont think shift points will give you beter mph
they only hold shifting longer like when you whant to race 1/4 mil times
i got mine set 1/2 3+ 2/3 8+ 3/4 8+ rev at 6000
but my truck is 2000 lt 5.3l silv
i hope that helps

If it's POWER you're looking for -then shift points are secondary to Torque Management.

Look at this thread, and you'll see why your Chevy revs up but doesnt' go anywhere after about 4000RPMs. -The computer retards your timing and reduces your power!

Also, at top speed -his foot was on the floor, but the computer was only giving him 58% throttle!

VERY interesting read.
I am now planning on getting a "Westers" tune or a "Nelson" tune!

It would be nice if you posted a link that you don't have to be a registered member of another forum to read it.

Hmmm.. didn't know that you needed to be registered?!?

It's too much info to copy, but certainly worth your time to register and read. Opened my eyes on the computer management of my truck.

Sorry 'bout the link....

EDIT: I'll try linking just a few for example
PAY CLOSE ATTN. TO THE TIMING !!

This is idle

Wide Open From Stop:

Say good bye to any positive timing just before the shift to 2nd:

Positive acceleration is back:

What is going on? Pedal is to the floor but the PCM is only allowing 50%

99MPH Limit. Foot is still stomped on the gas. Electronic throttling at its best

What it looks like at 75MPH with cruise control

If you want to see more pics of Torque management in action, let me know -I'll post them.

(they're NOT from my truck, but same year/style/engine)

torque management sucks. it lags my acceleration when i stomp on it at a full stop. how do we get rid of the tm?

Everyone is talking about this torque management and how its slowing them down from a complete take off...... how come when I stomp it from a dead stop, it breaks them loose?? and even if I do it a little lighter and they dont spin, the truck still hauls ass from a dead stop?

When I stomp on it, yes the tires will still spin -no problem, but as it gets over 3000-3500 rpms -it just makes noise, no power is there, then it will shift into the next gear -and whoosh, I'm under full acceleration again!

Also, look at the top speed chart.
See how the computer is telling the engine that you're only asking for 58.4% throttle?

Look at the timing in all the charts, and you'll see what is going on.

Hope that makes sense!
If not, let's talk somemore.

ok, I got ya..... what kind of tune can change that?
is theit any programer that can do it or do i have to get a whole new tune?

You can get a cheap hand-held programmer, like the Predator, or the Hyperchip -but after researching the matter deeper, I believe the way to go is with a whole new chip.

Nelson Tune (http://www.nelsonperformance.com/)
or
Westers (http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/)

Not sure how expensive it will be for your truck, but the pricing is listed there.

What about a fuse? Is there one I can pull to solve the problem, or am I looking in the wrong direction?
And by the way, my truck will not spin from a dead stop on dry pavement, but after about a second and a half of full pedal, it'll really kick me in the pants.
