I have a 97 Tacoma and the brake lever comes all the way up but is not strong enough to hold the truck. Can I adjust it? If I end up replacing then what's involved? It's a short bed Tacoma truck.
Thanks!

Johnny, Usually hand brake problems are coused by the rear brakes being worn out or in need of adjustment. I realize the rear brakes should adjust automatically when the vehicle is backing. If the brake shoes have recently been replaced and the automatic adjusters were not set so the shoes are close to the drum that could be the problem. There should be a cable adjuster under the truck probably near the transmission if the cable needs adjusting.
