Air Silencer

Does a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis even have an air silencer? If so where would it be? I heard taking it off is a cheap mod to get little horsepower out of.

i was reading an article on this one crown vic website and at the front of the air box theres a small tube like thing that gos from the air box into the front clip he says to cut it off and put a bigger tube on it like a piece of pvc tubeing and a k&n air filter im gunna try it sumtime in the future but hopefullt this helps
