Can someone tell me if when a '95 Neon SOHC breaks a timing belt if the valves get bent or motor gets ruined or????

When a timing belt breaks the valves bend. It's up to you whether you want to redo the head/valves/pistons or replace the motor.

^What he said... no telling how many valves got bent / ruined without going in and taking a look. However, its almost a definite that some are bent and there may be further damage to the engine internals (i.e. pistons, springs, etc.). It might not be that bad, you just gotta see.

Of course, as mentioned above... it's up to you whether or not you choose to re-build this motor, swap in a new(er) / different one or just get a completely different car.

Thanks friends for the reply. I've got the big picture now and I think we can finalize this thread. Time to pop the head and explore. I could be back soon asking more newbie Q's as I've never worked on a NEON. Sure has been a good car!

YUP! in fact most Dodges are "collision" or "interference" motors.
Thanks for the reply. My pistons are fine and I'm just gonna put another head on her. I found one locally but Ebay is lousy with them.

well i just had a timing belt broken and i replaced it and it was fine no damage done to the valves that was lucky but honestly the 4 cyliner sohc doesnt have enough compression most of the time or i was just lucky
