Okay....I want to add an amplifier to my 2001 X, but I don't know which one to add and where to add it. Has anyone out there put in an amplifier? If so, where did you put it so it is out of sight? Please include the make/model...Pictures would be helpful... I just don't want to give up any of the cargo space in the back..

I put mine under the front seats: A four channel (30x4) under the passenger side seat and a 2 channel/mono (40x2 or 110x1, I think?)under the drivers seat. I didn't need to make my ears bleed though, so I didn't mind using smaller amplifiers in exchange for keeping my cargo area free from anything more than a single subwoofer in an easily removeable enclosure. I used Alpine Flex amplifiers, which are no longer made. They were compact and only about 1-3/4" in height, so they fit neatly with just a bit of space above them, allowing both seats to easily move all the way forward and all the way back. Anyway, I think 2' is about as tall as you can go under the seats and you'll need to cut out the carpet and set the amplifier down on the metal in order to clear. I just used double sided 3M tape to hold mine so there was no drilling and after more than 4 years they are still attached! I put an Alpine Flex 5 channel in another club members Xterra under his passenger seat and it fit above the carpet. Anything hidden in the back will require a good amount of custom work, maybe a second floor or an amp rack hanging from the roof. I think a few people have found ways to get them in behind the rear interior panels, but that puts them in the bodywork so they are pretty exposed to dirt and vibration, etc. ANyway, here's one picture of one of mine anyway...
