What the hell's up w/my 98GC?RamblerReb 11-14-2004, 08:23 PM Okay, I put the damn thing on a tow dolly, hooked it up to the RV, and started off. As soon as it reached about 10-15 mph, the damn rear tires started alternately locking up! I have the Quadra-Trac system and a Dana diff. Why are the wheels locking up, and can I stop it so I can use this thing as a towed? Help! glass 11-14-2004, 08:35 PM im not an expert on towing 4x4 s , but i did read that the trans needed to be taken out of 4 wheel drive and put in neutral, and that some reccomend disconecting the drive shaft from the rear diff as well , if you do , be sure it s well secured , are you towing the car on a trolly with the front wheels imobilized ?. or down on all fours , if all wheels are on the ground , you may need to remove both driveshafts to tow, might be more trouble than you wish for regular use with the motor home , well... that s my 2 cents dksob81 11-14-2004, 09:28 PM place the tranny in NUETRAL, and put the transfer case in NUETRAL as well. RamblerReb 11-14-2004, 10:33 PM I did forget to mention that I had, in fact, put the transfer case and the tranny into NEUTRAL (that's right, it's spelled NEUTRAL, not NUETRAL) and it still was locking up first one wheel and then the other. Only the two rear tires are on the ground. Dropping the shafts is not an option. Anyone else? Oh, I noticed that the problem started when the RV was turning, so maybe it has something to do with the limited-slip rear end. xj31 11-14-2004, 11:15 PM You can't tow it like that.Your t-case will try and turn both driveshafts.I believe you can flat tow it with all 4 wheels on the ground. Cam7 11-15-2004, 05:57 AM I know with the 231 and 242 transfer cases you only have to put the trans and transfer case in neutral. On the 249 the manuals says that all wheels have to be off the pavment or have to be towed on a flatbed. I know there has to be a option for Towing besides unhooking the Drive Shafts which has to be done on other Vechiles to keep the Trans pump from burning up. Caribbean ZJ 11-15-2004, 08:57 AM had a towing experience last month. 93 quadra trac. tcase in neutral, tranny in PARK, E-Brake down. no probs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
