Okay I have searched, read the noob stuff and still haven’t found anything. So here goes.

I bought an 83 280 ZX, I already have a 79 I am restoring and two parts cars a 78 and another 83. I love these cars, but the 83 is my favorite because it has t-tops.

Anyway, I have a Haynes Repair Manual and an electrical problem as well.

It all started after I washed the engine compartment, the dash idiot lights would stay on even after the key was turned off and removed. So I had to unplug the battery each time I parked the car.

Then one day, I noticed (after two cars about rear ended me) that I had no dash gauges, or tail lights.

The only thing replaced on this car, (I got it from the original owner who I still talk to today) was the ignition (key) switch. The only after market add-on is an alarm which was professionally installed.

I have traced the problem to one forth of the fuse block that isn't getting power. I traced back to the fusible link assembly and (it didn't need it) I replaced the entire fusible link assembly. Still I get no power to the fuse block on the part that has a heavy gauge White and Blue wire. If I take and put power from the battery to that part of the fuse block all is well.

The Haynes Manual is not very readable and I even have tried to scan it in my computer to blow it up and trace the wires but I am having trouble following the little lines since I do have a slight vision problem.

Does anyone have a better resource or have a better wiring diagram for my model? The Haynes version says to use the 1982 model and then switches to the 83 version. Any help leading me to a resource that is readable would be greatly appreciated.

Somewhere in your system is a selenoid, when you turn your key on it's activated. When you go to start it kills everything but the starter and ignation, and after the engine starts the start crank stops and it's back on. On your model I don't know where it is but find it and see if you have power to it. Sounds like you fuc*ed it up when you washed it. Ask some of the Zed31 guys who work on them for it's location. Check power in and out. Bet'ch you'll find the problem.
