Hey guys, I just got done putting in iridium plugs, new air filter and cleaned out the TB on my 1990 300zx N/A.. I have an arking sound coming from maybe a coil pack or something the sound is only on throttle up for a couple of seconds. I posted earlier about a slight lag in take off. This seems to be gone, but I still have this arking sound. I unplugged one coil pack at a time and cant seem to eliminate the problem.. The other wierd sound is coming from the drivers wheel well or maybe under the car. Sounds like water draining out of a pipe or gargling sound.. Let me tap into the board of wisdom.. Thanks.

i have the same gargling sounds in my z but from my passenger side, i can barely here it. i think its just what you think it is, water or some fluid passing through some hose.

the "arking" sound, are you sure its coming from the coil packs and not maybe the belts or fan. can you better describe the sound???

It is def. an arking sound just like one of those hand held shockers.. It may not be the coil packs, I cant seem to pinpoint it..

well since the car is running well, i wouldnt worry about it unless it is obnoxiously loud. i forget what its called, but the local parts store should carry a variety. i wouldnt think you would need a continutity tester since the car seems to be running fine.

You might have a coil pak arking to the head. The gargling sound is just that. Every Zed's intake has a collector on it's intake that stops water from getting into the engine and this little item is what causes the sound. Their's two of them. one on both sides. When you install your cold air intake you can remove them and it well go away.

Even though the gargling sound is coming from what sounds like the dash front wheel area? Thanks for the help

Thats where the collector is at. In front of each front wheel.

Tell me about it. Mine drove me nuts till I found it. I think the sound travels back to the area you said by the shear design of the car..
My Porsche drove me nuts for 6 months with a rattle I couldn't find, then one day had to remove the rear wheel fuel pump access plate and guess what? Found a German pop bottle in there and the rattle was gone. What really pissed me off was it was empty.
