fuel pump whineseliasonb763 11-13-2004, 11:05 PM I have noticed that on my 99 2500 crew cab, the fuel pump has started to whine VERY noticably. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just special? Rbraczyk 11-14-2004, 02:13 AM Nah that happens. 97-99 seem to make high pitched noises that can be as loud as the exhaust. eliasonb763 11-14-2004, 01:35 PM does this mean Ill have to replace it soon? My pump went bad on my 95 and I personally replaced it, so it wont be that bad of a deal. skipr 11-15-2004, 01:05 AM I changed mine at 38,000 on my 1998 Z71, bought a OEM pump module, and it whinned loud from day 1. I'm now at 88,000. Don't worry about it untill u are dead on the road.( I mean your truck, not you dead on the road). sitdusa 11-15-2004, 07:29 AM How long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? Mine was whining pretty bad and after I changed the fuel filter it was quiet... busta 11-15-2004, 09:05 PM dont panic ive seen these last the life of the truck with a wine and ive seen the die very early, this is acommon gm problem if it does die DONT put a factory fuel pump in go with aftermarket pump with adjustable regulator in case you up grade your injector's or other mod's down the road ,,,,,,, good luck Rbraczyk 11-16-2004, 06:34 AM GM doesn't make things like they used to. I have the original fuel pump at 284k and I frequently run it below 1/4 tank.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
