i am planning to get a gsr swap for my crx in the spring, but can't decide whether i should tackle it myself of have it done by a shop. i live in michigan and there are only a handfull of shops within a few hours. the closest is 2 hr. away and they want $4500 w/ full swap(motor, trans, ecu) or 4900 for swap w/ lsd. is it just me or does this seem a tad overpriced! or should i just swap in a b16 and call it a summer?

well considering a gsr swap is around 3,000. then you need mounts, either gotta convert to obd2 or go obd0. doesnt seem that high to me

You would still be happy with the b16. With the money you save from using the si motor instead of the gsr you could make up some of that power difference

Because...............

my first motor in my eg si hatch was a b18c1

I/E, Falken, Azenis
14.4@96
2.3 60ft

I/H/E, skunk2 manifold, slicks
13.828 @ 100.09
2.1 60ft

custom turbo, UNTUNED hondata s2b/ RC 550s @ 7psi, Falken Azenis
13.3@107
2.3 60ft

after the the b18c1 blew i got a b16a2.

eg si hatch b16a2 w gsr tranny

I/H/E, slicks

[email protected]
2.2 60ft

I never ran the b16 w/the turbo at the track.

It takes more than minor bolt ons to get a b16 sol or hatch to low 14s. Thats how i figured

Sol's are heavy, b16 with minor bolt ons sounds fishy unless he is on slicks.

superblue...I was pulling those 2.1 60' on bald street tires, you should have went atleast 1.9's with slicks if not lower.

The 60 times should of been so much better, I dont remember what happened. i was kinda shocked by looking at that 2.1, been too long ago since the b18c1 was in the hatch. it was back in the summer of 2001 when i blew the gsr. i remember i had to use the pay from basic training to get her up and running again. i just have a bunch of slips i saved up from myself and some friends. i dont have the b16 hatch anymore. sold it to my lil bro with the turbo a few months ago. i took out the hondata though
