Hi, new here and in need of some advice. I just bought a 93 Talon 2.0 Turbo 5 speed that had a starting problem, I thought I narrowed it down to the ECU after trying another coil and transistor, the car will start and run rough for about 4-5 seconds and then die, I put my Snap-on Scanner on it but it won;t tell me anything, I went ahead and replaced the ECU and still the same thing. If anyone has any ideas I would appriciate the info.

Thanks!
Nate

which scanner are you using. your 93 is not obd2 so you need the right adapter to be able to read codes. when it dies does it start back up right away? what do the spark plugs look like? is it a Turbo or NT? what mods does it have?

welcome to AF

btw this is a message board not a chat room so dont expect replies right away. you can also edit/delete your posts if you forgot something. the link is in the lower right of what you posted

I am using the New Solus scanner, the car will start back up if you crack the accelerator a bit and runs for about 4-5 seconds but won't get over 1500 rpm, two of the plugs were wet and the other two were black from only running on two cylnders before I replaced the ECU. It is a turbo 5 speed car and has no mods yet, thanks.

interesting... do you have aim? did you try replacing the plugs and wires?

No I don't have aim, yes the plugs and wires are new, normally I can figure them out but I'm stumped, I'm hoping someone has had the same problem.

check all your connectors mistuubishi connectors can be a pain in the ass and wiggle loose sometimes. just make sure theyre tight on everything

I think i had the same problem as you. Would start, idle really odly up and down for about 4-5 seconds or less then die. In the shop now and they say its the o2 Sensor. See if you can check both. If its the one near the cat that doesnt work it shouldnt be the problem but near the turbo it would.

Well today I found out that I have no spark to my middle two plugs, I've put new plugs, wires, coil pack, ignition transistor, and ECU on the car, so I think maybe I'll try another crank sensor Monday after I tow it down to my shop, my friend has a spare on that is good he said I could have. If anyone has anyother ideas please let me know. Thanks Nate

the first time my car died that is exactly what it was doing, as soon as i pushed the accelarator and it went above 2000 rpm it died, took me an hour and half to drive what usually takes 20 minutes, so i would try the crank sensor

Hey guys, I am having the same problems right now with my laser... The cam/crank sensor is located on the left side of the valve cover on the inside cam for adjusting timing Right?
