01 suburban, drains battery when sitting idleFishB8s 11-12-2004, 07:13 PM I went out to start my 00 Suburban and she wouldn't start. No noise, click or anything. My lights worked and there was no indication that I left something on. It is my tow vehicle so I haven't driven her for a month. I put the charger to the battery and she started up. The battery is relatively new (8 mos). What would cause this? Why would the battery loose charge so easily? I live in GA so the cold isn't a factor yet. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks. FishB8s 11-13-2004, 06:24 PM I mean my 01 suburban. typo. Larry Derouin 11-13-2004, 08:53 PM Everything that requires a trickle discharge to stay alive ie: clock, radio memory, ecm, etc..... It will be dicey after 2 weeks normally. 1 month will definately require a trickle charger. Go get one of those 1-2 amp trickle chargers for boats (hermetically sealed) at Advance Auto for about $20. Mount it in the engine compartment and keep it on charge when your not using it. Or just go out and start it up once a week and let it run for a 1/2 hour. Larry utahawk 12-02-2004, 10:49 PM Does it have Stabilitrak or any type of wheel sensors onboard? There was a recall on my '03 for wheel sensors that failed to shut down when the vehicle was turned off. They reprogrammed the computer and it works fine now. Just a thought. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
