Guess Who's Back!big_sam_2004 11-12-2004, 02:13 AM Well, I dont know if I'm late or not but after seeing this http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1893/article.html I assume we'll be seeing the Caprice back on the road again in america! Im jus glad most of all that its a RWD V8 instead of a fwd v6 *impalaSS* ahhhh, ill sleep well 2nite....... HLandin 11-13-2004, 12:13 PM While it is nice to see a return of the Caprice name, the Holden Caprice looks more like a Lincoln or a Mercedes than its form self. If it was intended for police use, it looks just a silly as a 4wd Impala. It did mention a 10.0:1 compression ratio, but it did not specify engine torque and horsepower. Overall, while it might be a light at the end of the tunnel, that light is still very dim. big_sam_2004 11-13-2004, 02:48 PM well, if im not mistaken, it did say it had an LS1 in it which means 300+ hp, but i agree with the looks, but hey... how many RWD V8's are being produced today (excluding exotics) all i can think of is, mustangs and GTO's, all the rest are SUV's, so Im happy TommySS 11-13-2004, 07:30 PM Scott Settlemire (aka: Fbodfather) said to watch the Chicago and New York auto shows closely (especially the Impala). Maybe there will be a return of RWD/V8 Impala/Caprice Woo-hoo ! ! PeteA216 11-16-2004, 08:10 PM RWD, beautiful. V8, excellent, the only thing I don't like that much is that it's taken on a smaller, more sporty look. What happened to the big, solid luxury car thing? Kinda makes me wanna keep my '84 Caprice a little longer. That'd be the perfect car... big, an actual chassis rather than a unibody, incredibly smooth ride, RWD, limited slip differential, and 350hp V8 engine with over 380 ftlbs of torque. Oh, and have all the toys (DVD/CD Player, Power everything, Heated mirrors, Keyless entry & Remote Start, Heated and Cooled seats). I think I'll make some sketches now. HLandin 11-16-2004, 09:08 PM Definitely agree. Caprice used to look distinctive. It LOOKED like a cop car. Allegretto 11-17-2004, 10:49 AM you dam right! i like that they brought the heavy chevy back but they could have at least tried to keep it looking like the 96 or gave it some retro styling (86 perhaps?)
