Rear Defroster and wiper issues.bbohica 11-11-2004, 11:27 AM Hey all. I'm trying to whip my 2000 Rodeo back into shape as I've decided it's a great enough car to keep until it dies. I've serched several forums for defroster issues on Rodeo's, but I can't find my specific problem. I have a 2000 rodeo, and I live in Texas so I want to use the defrost like twice a year, but it doesn't work. When I press the defrost button, I hear a relay 'switch' but the LED doesn't come on, and the defrost doesn't work. Do you all hear the relay 'switch' when you press the defrost, or am I hearing an overcurrent breaker or something? My rear wiper went nutz last year as well, and I've found the FAQ on replacing the relays in the wiper/alarm control unit. I'm ordering the parts from Mouser today and I'll hopefully let you all know soon how it turns out. I'm pretty experienced with electronics hacking so the rework won't be a problem. Thanks.. amigo-2k 11-11-2004, 11:49 AM http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=613641&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=1&fpart=1 good photos of the relay. bbohica 11-11-2004, 04:07 PM After digging around here and at other forums, I've seen several people with this same rear defroster problem, but nobody has solved it. I read about some models (95-96) that might be pre-wired for heated mirrors, and all they needed to do was add a switch. Some mentioned that heated mirrors on some newer models were turned on by rear defrost switch. Does anyone know if 2000's came with heated mirrors? Perhaps I have a heated mirror problem that's tripping my rear defroster circuitry. Does anyone know where the rear defrost relay circuit is? I just purchased the shop manual, but it's still in the mail... bbohica 11-14-2004, 12:46 PM Replaced all three relays today, rear wipers work like a charm. Now to tackle the defroster issue..... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
