Hello,

I have a 1999 GC limited with the 4.7 engine in it. Lately about once a week I have been driving and my Jeep wold all the sudden loose power like a governer kicking in and out extremely fast and the check engine light would come on. After this I would have to keep it below 60 and the O/D would not work.

There is no light that says the O/D is off but the RPM's are consistant with it not shifting into the higher gear. Also, it will be very slow on acceleration sitting at a light or stop sign. Sitting at a light after the check engine light has come on the idle RPM's sometimes very from 500 up to 2000 and one time it even died but started right back up. After a couple days the check engine light will go out and it will drive fine for 5-7 days.

I checked the error code and got P0320 (No Crank Reference Signal at PCM) back in the readout. I ordered a crankshaft position sensor ($21.00) and have been trying to find where it installs.

Can someone here tell me where and what is the easiest way to get to this it would be appreciated. Also, if you have any other ideas just let me know.

Chris

Iam not sure where the 4.7 CPS is. In a 5.2 its located on the top of the bellhousing drivers side.

I knwo where it is located on the 4.7L. but the surtge in idling sounds like a bad Throttle position sensor as well. email me, and I will send u instructions on the CPS replacement. it is located above the starter motor on your jeep.
