Is there a way to convert a 1990 'tona with the 3.0L to a RWD or AWD car? Any info on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Back in the day Carroll Shelby did up an all wheel drive Daytona. I've seen in person an all wheel drive Shadow P body with a second motor in the back seat to power the rear wheels. There have been lots of Daytona's converted to rear wheel drive for drag cars with big V8's.
I bet if you took the rear parts off of an all wheel drive Caravan you could possibly rig something up. The conversion will take lots of time and even more $.
If your looking for speed just by a T1, T2, T3 or T4 Daytona and put some mods on it. (T1=146HP, T2=174HP, T3=224HP and T4 is the VNT, variable nozzle turbo which makes 174HP. I think a 3.0 V6 is good for 130HP in stock form.

An engine swap is also a helluva job as well as expensive. Around here, a Daytona is rarely found and those that are, aren't exactly parts cars. The 3.0L is good for around 141 horsies, perhaps around 130 at the wheels. Turbo setup will put it at 260 whp and 270 ft-lb of torque with 9 psi of boost. In total, this engine is capable of 400 hp or more, but thats with a major engine rebuild with several modifications, and even more money... But with the turbo running around $1300 for all the parts (not a kit), its reasonable for an extra 100 hp... These engines have been passed off as weak engines when a little modding can go a long way...

119 horses from a turbocharger? That must be some turbo set up!!! Is that a double or triple set up? If I recall a 2.2 NA is good for around 100 HP put a turbo charger on it and you've got 146 HP. 46 HP for a turbo for a 2.2 or 135ci.
That link has a lot of fuzzy numbers. I'm sure after building up a 3.0 with stronger rods and such you could create some HP but 400? That would take a ton of mods and even more money.
I bet there are 10+ guys that build up 2.2 or 2.5 turbo Daytonas to 1 guy building up a 3.0 V6 Daytona.

No, its not a double or triple, its only a single turbo and its good for up to 300 horsies. And just like you said it, around a 10:1 ratio of 4 cyl to 6 cyl that are modded.... I want this car to be a unique as possible. Everyone and their brother has a 4 cyl turbo Daytona... How many have a turbo V6?
And as far as the rods go, these are the same rods from the famed 3000GT VR4 aka Stealth R/T Turbo. These cars were sitting around 320 hp stock. The entire bottom end is the same :). Thats why a set of rods for this thing run in the $1000 range for anything any stronger.

I guess if the lower end can handle the HP may as well mod it to see how it handles it.
What color is your car is it an ES or IROC? A turbo V6 Daytona would be something out of the ordinary!

you can also use the drive tran out of a AWD mini van - like the new chrysler town an country - they work very well.... an can take a decent load....

my daytona is a ES model...i'd just like to see what can be done... i have seen many people tell me to just get a 4 cyl and mod it, but i don't wanna do it the easy way... it will be worth it when i can say that i have one of the few turbo charged 3.0L v-6 engines, producing a good 300 hp... :)... could you imagine 300 hp with awd in a car that weighs around 3000 lbs? with an upgraded suspension, omg... *creams*

alright guy, in the early to mid 90's, a company DID make swap kits including the k member to make a LA block fit the daytona. i did research, and they dont make the kit anymore, so you will have to weld up your own k member to fitthe motor mounts, and crazy enough, a lot of the parts used to hold the extra v8 weight came from none other than that of the mini vans, direct bolt in. you can search on hotrod.com, they had an article in one issue a year ago. i cant find it, its somewhere in my house, just moved, but it has all you need to know on rwd swaps. an awd swap would be easier, any talon or eclipse awd rear axle will do, a custom driveshaft, and the ptu from a van will bolt right into an auto tranny case. not too sure bout the sticks, but im sure it will fit. good luck and have fun

If anyone is interested we make the RWD conversion parts to V8 a daytona sundance lebaron or shadow.
