Abs Disc Brake changeosthoff27 11-09-2004, 06:14 PM How do you release the caliper on abs disc breaks? I have changed disc breaks on regular non abs cars and trucks but never messed with abs. The chiltons didn't seem to help. It just keep telling me that I need to refer to a million other pages. Do I need to release some type of pressure in the brakes. The chilton said that 1200 ppi were in the car lines...I don't want to hurt myself. changing brakes shouldn't be this hard...I'm missing some easy fix. can someone please lend a hand with some suggestions. thanks a million dksob81 11-09-2004, 11:50 PM are u trying to get the caliper off of the rotor, or push the piston back into the caliper? Cam7 11-10-2004, 04:48 AM First you should depress the brake pedal 40 times with the key off this will relieve the pressure in the acumaltor. I take it you are trying to depress the caliper? If thats the case take a C Clamp and apply over the caliper piston just put a little pressure on the clamp while oppening the bleeder valve you dont want to push Dirty Brake fluid bake in the system. After you depress the caliper all the way tighten the bleeder valve. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
