Could someone please tell me what an O/D is? After having my 1997 Nissan Altima GXE for one year, without problems, the light comes on and says O/D OFF. What does it mean and what, exactly, is an O/D ? Thanks.

I think it means overdrive

It is overdrive. There should be a little button on the shifter, probably on the left side under the button you push to change gears, just push it and the light should go off. You probably just bumped it and that is why it got turned off.

yes overdrive you should engage it when your going about 45-50mph youll get better gas mileage, and your engine wont be reving so high
