Got A Mystery Plug That I Can't Seem To Find The Receptacle For.

It Is A Two Wire Plug, Up Near The Carb, The Connector Is A Recessed Spade, And One Terminal Is At 90 Degreeds From The Other. I Checked The Wiring Schematic, And All The Pictures In Both Haynes And Chiltons, And Neither Would Tell Me What The Hell This Thing Is. The Car Runs Fine With It Being Unplugged, So I'm Thinking It Might Be A Diagnostic Hookup, But There Is No Cover For It To Protect The Terminals. Any Help In Identifying This P.o.s. Would Be Much Appreciated.

Can you post a picture of it?

It will also help if you tell us some details on engine type, size, carborated or FI, trans type. We need more info!!!

You can even upload pictures onto www.autmotiveforums.com webspace. You just have to add them to your profile.

If I remember correctly, it's a diagnostic connector for a dwell meter to check the mixture control solonoid in the carb.

The Plug Has A Off-white Head, And It Is Shaped Like And "l" Except Upsidedown. Two Wires, One Wire For Each Part Of The "l"

Some carb 2.8s have a devise called an efe heater in the base gasket under the carb to help atomized the fuel when the engine is cold. As most part stores either don't stock it or don't have any idea how to look it up it usually gets replaced with just a plain carb gasket an you end up with a
"mystery plug" that does'nt have a home anymore.
