Hello I have installed a kenwood kdc 205 with new dashboard speakers and side door panel speakers. I just got a Rockford Fosgate 200m amp from a friend for about 20 dollars and installed it with a 200 watt amp kit from autozone. I also have 2 Audiobahn 10 inch 300 watt rms running on amp. I recently took one sub out and im running one sub on this amp. I have the 4 2.2l s-10 2003. Heres my problem I was driving today and had the bass going when I noticed my battery needle is jumping about 1 to 2 notches at every stop light. It just jumps when i stop at a stop light. Do I need a bigger alternator and dual cell battery or do I just need a power cap for the amp? What should I do I don't wanna loose my bass.

all of these are a good idea if you want optimum power to your system

power cap, bigger alt is what i did but you really shouldnt up the power w/o upping wires, plus my 1500 was shutting off from my power

What type of alternator should I get and where can I get it? Can I just install a power cap instead for now?

Why not run your truck down to an Auto Electric shop, get them to test the system with your exsisting alternator. The chances are that your fine with what you have unless you idle in traffic all day but only the experts know for sure.

bring it to autozone, they can check it on the truck, otherwise a .5 cap should be fine, if ya wanna go big (not alwase needed but to much is better then not enough) or a 1 power cap, over 1k watts go with a 1 for sure

Your alternator barely puts out anything at idle sitting at a light.

Mine does the same thing and what I do is just turn down the voume a bit when at the light.

I'll take it to a autozone once I find one here in Albuquerque I just moved here.

There is nothing wrong with your alternator so don't start ripping it out.

just install a power cap you should be fine your alternater will put out about 14.5 volts at idle

Voltage is not the concern, amperage is.

gcfreak898, were you in Aurora, Colorado on Janurary 4th?? If so I want my stereo and subs back, i can see why you might have been in town.... just kidding... same shit happened to me, but they were able to disable my alarm, b/c it automatically arms. I am now looking to buying a firearm (make my day law) FU**ERS, come mess with me now!
