Air shocks bolt right in but cost $75. Add-a-leafs are about $40. How easy do they go on, and how do you get the right height?

Thanks

PS: Gabriel air shock part for 97 Silverado says ("except Z-71"). What is different about Z-71 rear suspension?

Thanks

I would go with the add-a-leaf. After they settle it will be about a inch and a half. It will be a little taller at first until they settle.THey are not hard at all to install and once your done there is no worrying about airlines or the bouncy ride associated with the air shocks.

Any preference for the ones that installl under the half of the leaf behind the axle v. the ones that go under the whole leaf, in front of, and behind, the axles?

Also, is there any way to tell if my front torsion bars have already been cranked?

Thanks

Barry

Yep, get the long add-a-leafs. Rancho makes them and they go in your spring stacks. They go in steps from the longest to the shortest spring. You have to drop the axle loose from the springs and then dis-assemble your spring stack. Not hard at all. What you are talking about are the spring helpers. That is a load leveling device.
