Porsche Carrera GTC (glass top coupe) progressp9o1r1sche 11-07-2004, 02:17 PM This is my version of a Carrera coupe. I call it a glass top coupe because the top will be glass from the front to the back, similar to Porsche's recent glass top targa models. Planning on a white with a black top color scheme. Interior will also have a red color involved, like Veyron's (very cool color for the interior). Havent cut out the top yet. The back of the kit roof was raised about 2.5 scale inches to accomodate the new curve of the back. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_01a-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_07a-med.jpg Hope it doesnt turn out looking too Ferrari-like. Since the engine compartment will be very visible, I opted for a number of changes. I thought some open air intakes would be cool. Also, used textured paint on the engine block, reminiscent of the TAG/Porsche turbo engines of some years ago. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_08a.jpg SchuberT 11-07-2004, 02:41 PM Looking good, man. DasWiesel 11-07-2004, 03:21 PM Also, used textured paint on the engine block, reminiscent of the TAG/Porsche turbo engines of some years ago. :sunglasse Looks great! How did you make that?? :eek7: p9o1r1sche 11-07-2004, 04:28 PM Comes out of the spray can like that. Rustoleum brand (in the US). I'm not sure, but SMS has a line of textured paint that may look similar. RallyRaider 11-07-2004, 04:50 PM The engine is super impreessive! Will look awesome through the big rear window. Porsche Carrera 11-07-2004, 06:11 PM Nice! But that quarter section (intake) looks funny to me, it reminds me of a Delsol. rx7king 11-07-2004, 06:23 PM oooh really nice robrex 11-07-2004, 08:18 PM Nice progress. I love the engine! And again, I think Porsche schould pay a visit to this forum, they might find some decent ideas, how to tune up their Carrera GT! Bas Carwash 11-08-2004, 04:56 AM That engine looks great. Idea is very cool also. Maybe we should call Veyron 'the inspirator' from now on :D Keep us posted :D flyonthewall 11-08-2004, 07:05 AM Very nice work and good concept. mach1_2003 11-08-2004, 08:20 AM Great start... the engine looks just fantastic!! Will probably use a thin red line to separate the black and white areas. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_11a-med.jpg The lump http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_14a-med.jpg Interior - I went with black, white, and alum for interior colors. Checkerboard pattern is SMS upholstery decal. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/95779Porsche_Carrera_GTC_15a-med.jpg Still plenty more to do! tonioseven 01-06-2005, 11:29 AM Dayum!!:eek:How in the world did I miss this thread?! Simply awesome!!:sunglasse SkylineFan 01-06-2005, 11:43 AM Superb as usual Ken. Vric 01-06-2005, 11:52 AM Look great. I think Porsche Engeneer should look this forum :D Technoman 01-06-2005, 12:44 PM Thats awesome, reminds me just a little of the Jag XJ220. Great build so far. Trial_Style 01-06-2005, 12:57 PM That's a great interior and the engine is fantastic! nis.k.a. 01-06-2005, 01:25 PM Looks awesome! Wheelin75r 01-06-2005, 01:53 PM :eek2: willimo 01-06-2005, 01:56 PM Oh, wow. Incredible. I really like the glass top look, but perhaps use perspex to save weight... or something. Looks great though, and that motor is incredible and your ideas are just wonderfu. GlowinGTZ 01-06-2005, 01:57 PM :jawdrop: white97ex 01-06-2005, 02:00 PM awesome. the execution on this one is just superb. are those velocity stacks kit parts? i'm planning a project in the future where im going to need some. WeaPoN [X] 01-06-2005, 02:01 PM This is one Wicked build. The engine bay looks sweet and im loving the seatbelt details. The CF application to the inner fenders look flawless. What brand CF decals is that?...it looks like SMS. I cant wait to see the red seperation line, sounds like a great idea. Keep it up. edit: forgot to congratulate you on succesfully making it into a coupe. It looks like the factory did it that way, so I guess it slipped my mind. What didnt slip my mind is all the hard work and planning that went into the conversion. Absolutely stellar. JeFF primera man 01-06-2005, 02:08 PM That engine looks really good slk320 01-06-2005, 04:10 PM how did you get the carbon fiber on the wheel wells? is that decal or paint? looks great. robrex 01-06-2005, 04:36 PM I love it!! The interior looks amazing! I love the contrast between the black, white and aluminium! Great work so far, keep the pics coming please! freakmech 01-06-2005, 06:17 PM Thats hot! lots of mods, i like it! interior is a beaut! keep rollin' on this one. cant wait to see it done. ImolaEK 01-06-2005, 07:06 PM Man, i like the black and white combination! chaos 01-06-2005, 08:41 PM Wow coming along beautifully! ZoomZoomMX-5 01-06-2005, 10:03 PM Very nice! :sunglasse Love the color combo. You'll probably like the one I'm building, it has the roof from Revell's GT1...it works even better than I imagined, and when Henry started his, it sealed the deal. CGT's look much better custom than stock! :evillol: Nice thing is, all of our "stock" coupes will be quite different from each other. p9o1r1sche 01-07-2005, 08:24 AM Thanks for all the encouragement and kind comments. As I work this one, its looking better and better. To answer a few questions, I made the velocity stacks myself using alum tubing. Used my lathe for the job, but a lathe isnt really necessary. The rear wheel fenders are SMS CF decals with three coats of Future acrylic floor wax on it. Cant wait to see other CGTs. Lets get'em posted! Dr.AK 01-07-2005, 08:50 AM That's totally awesome! Especially the interior looks very good. Would have looked very good in plain silver, too (the car, not the interior). CADguy 01-07-2005, 09:00 PM Lookin' very good. The colors work very well to highlight your conversion. What color did you use for the muffler? It's very convincing. ol' dude 01-07-2005, 09:53 PM WOW!!! That looks awesome!! bvia 01-08-2005, 07:30 PM This build went right past the radar...DOH! This (as is Brian's) is a truly unique design and of course stunning (as usual) build. Can't wait to see this on compelted! Bill Samurai75007 01-10-2005, 09:07 AM O god that MMmmmm nice... Porsche Carrera 01-10-2005, 12:03 PM nicely executed! as for the divider between the engine bay and the cockpit. what plans do you have for it?! p9o1r1sche 01-10-2005, 01:18 PM as for the divider between the engine bay and the cockpit. what plans do you have for it?! - Porsche Carrera I'm planning a simple glass window to keep the 'open-ness' of the design. It'll have a thin black border and the top will have a black line where it meets the divider window. MercedesBenz 03-14-2005, 10:38 AM :) :) :) :) :) :) :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan Very niCE!!!, I love it! GvEman 03-14-2005, 11:36 AM Looks Awesome! Cant wait for more! Keep it up! Edit: Humm...
