Check engine light help please! OBDII code P1456

The check engine light on our '99 Accord LX has been on for about 2 weeks. Got gas the other day and my mileage was down to 23 from an average of about 30.

Looked in the manual and it said "maybe the fuel cap isn't on tight enough." Tightened it. Didn't help.

On my Nissan it's easy to pull the codes yourself, so I searched this forum to try and figure out the codes and basically all I could find was "go to Autozone." So I went there and their computer pulled "P1456." Their computer said this was "Fuel tank temperture sensor circuit malfunction."

About.com says P1456 means "Leak detected in EVAP control system."

honda-tech.com says "Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Control System Leakage (Fuel Tank System)"

All this tells me that maybe it *is* still the fuel cap because where else is fuel going to evaporate from? What are your thoughts? I hope I've provided enough information. http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/fingersx.gif Thanks in advance!

Warm regards,

Jim

Edit: I've located another post that basically says the same thing, but the only reply is to get the service manual, which is a good idea but it doesn't help me *this minute*. What things specifically do I need to inspect to diagnose this problem? Thanks again. :)
